N.J. Slabbert, ArMel Scientifics Center for Technology & Public Policy Resident Writer and Center Scholar in Intellectual History, has been honored by the US Government for intellectual and creative abilities that serve the public interest. Mr Slabbert’s areas of study include the evolution of science and technology, Internet studies, public policy, history and global affairs. He is co-author, with Aris Melissaratos, of Innovation, the Key to Prosperity: Technology & America’s Role in the 21st Century Global Economy and co-author with Morton White, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Intellectual History at the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, of the forthcoming book The Intellectual versus the City: Antiurbanism in America from Jefferson to the 21st Century.

Mr Slabbert has advised on the dissemination of New York Times Group scientific content and has served as a senior editor, staff writer and creative media expert for the Reader’s Digest Association, publishers of the world’s largest paid-circulation magazine and of the Reader’s Digest Condensed Books / Select Editions series of bestsellers. Mr Slabbert’s work has been presented under the auspices of, among others, the US Senate, the US National Academy of Sciences, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, The Washington Post, Arts & Letters Daily, The Times of London, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International, the Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics, and the Congressional Research Service. He has degrees in science and philosophy.
